日本的牡蛎养殖已有很久的历史,据称在1680年以前,就在广岛开始了插枝养殖,在大约三百年以前,开始了地播养殖。现在,牡蛎在产值方面,仅次于紫菜和珍珠而在日本浅海养殖中占第三位。在太平洋沿岸和日本海沿岸,北自北海道,南到九州,养殖海区遍及日本全国,主要产区为松岛湾、广岛湾、有明湾和岩手县。日本沿岸产牡蛎15—20种。其中在生产上价值最大的是长牡蛎,在日本沿岸养殖的几乎全是这一种。一部分海区也养殖近江牡蛎和密鳞牡蛎。
Oyster farming in Japan has been around for a long time and it was reported that before 1680, it began planting cuttings in Hiroshima and started sowing about 300 years ago. Now, oysters are third only to shallow-sea farming in Japan, second only to seaweed and pearl in terms of output value. In the Pacific coast and the coast of the Sea of Japan, north from Hokkaido, south to Kyushu, aquaculture sea areas throughout Japan, the main producing areas for the Matsushima Bay, Hiroshima Bay, Ariake Bay and Iwate. 15-20 oysters are produced along the coast of Japan. One of the most valuable species in production is long oysters, which are almost exclusively grown on the shores of Japan. Oysters and Oyster Oysters are also cultivated in some areas of the sea.
