Adult autoimmune thrombocytopenia (AITP) is a chronic disease that is rare spontaneously. The preferred treatment is adrenocortical steroids. Although early response is good, persistent remission is seen in 15 to 32% of cases, with splenectomy in many cases and in about 80% of cases. The authors report that 1 case of AITP was cured by ovariectomy.
