Interleukin-2 is a thymocyte stimulating factor found in mouse spleen cells by DiSabato et al. In 1979, the second session of the International Symposium on Lymphocytes was named as Interleukin-2 (IL-2). Four related factors have been found, which are successively called IL-1, IL-2, IL-3 and IL-4.
