On May 21, at the World Communication Conference, Prof. Gao Wen, chief scientist of China Netcom Research Institute, introduced the AVS audio and video international standard with independent intellectual property rights in China. Currently, AVS, Microsoft’s VC-1 and H.264 are competing in the selection of ITU’s international standards.
