With the importance of physical education for young people in our country and society, PE teaching has gradually become the main content of learning in colleges and universities. However, most of the students misunderstood and excluded sports activities, which made the teaching of physical education not optimistic and the physical quality of students generally changed difference. Based on an overview of motivation theory, this paper analyzes the status quo of college PE teaching and puts forward some suggestions on how to apply motivation theory in college PE teaching, which provides a reference for future PE teaching.
