The third period of silence (1950-1976) In the early 1950s, the scene of Sichuan painting was rather cold. Before 1950, though there were many painting organizations in Sichuan, they were all of the same family. The Sichuan Fine Arts Association established in 1940 was, at best, a trade union with no interference or restraint in the painter. After 1950, the Sichuan Artists Association was the earlier established Association of Sichuan Province Literary Federation, but mainly by a group of print artists who came out of the Lu Xun Art Institute of Yan’an. In that era, Chinese painting was regarded as a mass cultural activity. Therefore, in the 1950s and 1960s, the Sichuan Artists Association basically did not care about Chinese painting. The Chinese painters in Sichuan are mainly organized by the art labs of the Sichuan Provincial Department of Culture, the Sichuan Museum of Literature and Art and the Chengdu Art Institute to organize exhibitions.
