对大脑两半球功能的传统观点是:左脑是语言的中枢,在高级的思维发生中占有绝对的、支配的地位,是优势的半球。而右脑由于无语言区,因而是无意识的,是处于从属地位的劣势半球。然而,美国著名神经生理学家罗吉·斯佩里对“裂脑人”的研究证明:人的大脑两半球既高度分工,又相互协作,从整体看,不存在哪侧半球占优势的问题。而从左、右脑的不同功能看,许多实验研究都表明,右脑在许多方面具有明显优于左脑的地方。例如,在图象认知上,左、右脑采用的是不同的认知方式,对人群中一张脸的辨认,右脑只要扫一眼即可马上认出,而左脑一次只能比较脸的一个特征,需要化费很长的时间。假若一个图形改变了形式或出现了残缺,左脑再认就会发生困难,而右脑则不会被事物改变形式或背景变化所欺骗,能正确地再认。另外,对情绪发生过程中眼动的分析表明,情感功能主要产生于右脑。

In addition, the analysis of eye movement in the process of emotion shows that the emotional function mainly arises in the right brain.
