本文的第一至第四节,从技术与理性、科学技术与政治统治、科学技术与意识形态、科学技术与人的未来等四个方面,评述了法兰克福学派的基本埋论观点。指出:从40年代开始,法兰克福学派的主要代表人物日益用对科学技术本身的批判来代替对资本主义制度的批判,其着眼点是科学技术消极的社会作用,即在发达的工业社会中,科学技术是如何异化为一种新的控制形式,如何造就单面社会、单面人和单面思维方式的。本文的第五、六节,将法兰克福学派的科技社会学理论与技术统治论及其它西方技术社会学流派加以比较,进一步揭示其作为技术统治论的一个变种的反马克思主义的理论实质,以及它在西方技术社会学发展中的地位。
