1988年通过对我县杏园的综合调查,发现多数杏园处于衰老更新期。这些杏树多年放任不修剪,树形紊乱,骨干枝过多,内膛秃裸,结果部位外移,且新梢生长量很小,只有3～5cm,叶片小而黄,短果枝和花束状果枝数量少,寿命短,仅结果1～2年便枯死。新的结果枝花芽瘦小,不完全花的数量增加,平均株产只有10kg左右。
