过去的保山城,往往以代表性的事物或建筑来命名街巷。比如小井巷,有一水井;书院街,有永保书院。晏公巷是连接保岫东路与下巷街的一条巷道,从保岫东路看,位于现在的市工商银行与邮电公寓之间,从下巷街看,位于现在的市电信大楼西端。关于晏公巷巷名的来历,《保山市名志》写道:“明末在此建江西会馆,内供奉萧、晏二公牌位,通称萧祠。祠前街道取名萧祠街,祠后取名晏公巷。”从聂家大院出来,向西斜着走过保岫路,走过县人民银行前的广场,就进入晏公巷了。
