A modified Henson method was used to detect the platelet-activating factor (PAF) in 16 patients with primary nephrotic syndrome (PNS). The results showed that plasma PAF levels in PNS patients were significantly higher than those in normal controls (P <0.001) . Plasma PAF content and urinary protein excretion was positively correlated (γ = 0.77, P <0.01), suggesting that PAF may be involved in the pathogenesis of PNS, PAF is induced glomerular basement membrane permeability of protein is an important medium.
