In recent years, the application of laser to the human digestive tract endoscopy has been very popular. It is mainly used for treatment, such as treating gastrointestinal hemorrhage with Nd-YAG or argon ion laser; and treating gastric cancer with vaporization of Nd-YAG. However, there have been few examples of lasers used in diagnostics. In particular, fewer reports have been used to diagnose cancer using lasers. Three years ago, Japan’s Hiroshi Kawabata et al. reported that the use of an argon ion laser produces intrinsic fluorescence in gastric cancer. Since then, the author of this article, Ichiro Imoto, et al, of the Department of Gastroenterology of the Japan Medical University has been studying whether it is possible to diagnose the early detection of hepatocellular carcinoma using fluorescence. In this study, they first performed fresh human prostheses
