南京政治学院长期以来重视在青年学员中开展爱国主义教育,取得了显著的成效。他们的主要经验是:根据时代要求和学员特点,确立爱国主义教育的立足点;发挥政治院校教学优势,把学员朴素的爱国情感升华为科学的理性认识;坚持理论与实践的统一,在日常生活中陶冶学员的爱国主义情操;采取多种形式,把爱国主义教育搞得生动活泼、扎实有效。
