西点军校(也称美国军事学院)是美国最著名、最早的军事学院。它坐落在纽约州哈得孙河西岸,距纽约50英里。西点军校所在地西点是个军事区,地理位置十分险要。哈得孙河在西点处变窄,依山势蜿蜒流向山谷深处。据说在独立战争时,波兰籍军官塔德伊兹·柯斯丘什特带领美国人在该区设防,安置数门大炮,并在河上架起铁链以阻挡英国军舰的进犯。当时有一艘英国军舰驶进西点这一水域,结果被河中的铁链绊住,英军死伤惨重,从此再也不敢贸然前来。今天在西点军校里依然还能看到那些古炮巍然屹立的雄姿。
West Point Military Academy (also known as the United States Military Academy) is the United States the most famous and earliest military academy.
