Cardiovascular mortality in patients with diabetic nephropathy is higher than in patients without nephropathy. Carotid artery dysfunction and impairment of cardiac systolic and diastolic function are common in adults with type 1 and 2 diabetes, However, the results of studies on the cardiac function of adolescent diabetes is still controversial. The aim of this study was to evaluate the cardiac function and carotid artery elasticity of adolescent with diabetes mellitus, and to evaluate the relationship with diabetes control [HbA1c], blood lipid and renal function [urinary protein excretion rate (AER)].
