概况光无源器件(包括光纤光缆连接器、光耦合器、光开关、光衰减器、光复用器/解复用器、光非互易器件等),是纤维光学技术的基础元件之一。它们主要用于光纤与光纤或光纤与其他器件的光学连接、光功率分配、光信道切换、光波分复用、双向传输以及光信息的反馈和隔离等。十多年来,由于光纤技术的迅速发展,国外对光无源器件的需要量逐年增加。表1是1980年~1982年间日本对光无源器件的需要量和年平均增长率。另外,据日本光产业技术振兴协会对美、日、英、法、西德和加拿大等六个国家进行的调查,1983年六国合计的光纤(缆)连接器总需要量为88.4万套,其中美国59万套;日本17万套。而六国对光分路器/合路器、光波分复用器/解复用器、光开关、光衰减器和光隔离器等器件的总需要量为3.38万套,其中美国
