激励是激发人的动机,诱导人的行为,使其发挥内在潜力,为实现所追求的目标而努力的过程。其实质是调动人的行为积极性、主动性和创造性,从心理与行为的全过程来看,激励主要是指由未满足的需要而产生的紧张开始,再由一个事实上的刺激而激发人的行为动机,由动机引起目标导向与目标行为,进而实现目标。学校管理的一个重要任务,就是最大限度地调动教师的工作积极性,通过对教师动机心理的激发,唤起教师对工作的高度责任感,激起教师对工作的主动性和创造性,最终提高教育、教学的质量和工作效率。
