In order to study the deformation and damage characteristics of salt rock bodies with inclined non-salt interbed, the uniaxial and triaxial compression tests of samples with inclined intercalated salt rock are carried out. Combined with the theoretical analysis of the failure of composite rock mass, the interfacial bonding stress Variation law and its influencing factors, revealing the characteristics and mechanism of deformation and failure of inclined layered rock mass. The study shows that the oblique interlayer has a significant effect on the deformation and damage of salt rock mass. The damage pattern of each part of the interlayer is related to its location. The crack initiated at the interface first and then extended to the interlayer and salt rock. The transgranular fracture of the salt spot was observed and its mechanical mechanism was revealed. The thickness of the interlayer affected the salt rock The overall performance and the damage characteristics of the interlayer are more likely to form macro-cracks than those of the mezzanine; the confining pressure reduces the difference of the crack morphology and the difference of interfacial bonding stress in different parts of the interlayer. The results provide a theoretical reference for cavity optimization, stability and tightness analysis of gas reservoirs in stratigraphic dip and salt rock deposits. It is suggested that geologic intervals should be optimized before the formation of cavities to meet the requirements of both stability and airtightness.
