Japanese hospitals generally fall into four categories. One is the affiliated hospitals of the medical departments of imperial universities, private universities, and local universities, such as the Tokyo Imperial University Medical School Affiliated Hospital (referred to as Dongdae Hospital); the Nagoya Imperial University Medical School Affiliated Hospital (referred to as the Great Hospital). The second type is the hospital directly under the Ministry of Health and Welfare (similar to the Ministry of Health of China) or the Houshenglian (Health Department), such as the Housheng-Hui Village of Yai-fu-cho (Hainan Hospital). There are also a variety of municipal hospitals, such as the Yokkaichi City Hospital and the Aibei Hospital in Gangnam. I have had the privilege of visiting and studying the five major hospitals. Of course, I mainly visited the examination and treatment of cardiac catheters. In addition, there are still many categories that are spread across Japan’s national capital.
