法国Pielstick公司除了生产船用和固定式柴油机外,还生产内燃机车用的PA6柴油机。这种柴油机可以燃用含钒量很高的高粘度燃料。PA6柴油机也可用在船上和电站。这种柴油机在电站上燃用上述燃料的经验和试验结果表明,略微改变喷嘴、气阀及其导管、增压器以及选用合适的机油时,零件的磨损程度还是允许的。有一台72000系列内燃机车上装用了4200马力的12缸PA6柴油机。18缸的这种柴油机的功率为6000马力,计算功率为7000马力。这种柴油机(1100转/分)用在机车上是非常紧凑的。但是这种柴油机采用高粘度燃料时,气阀问题还未解决,寿命不长,还没有找到合适
