孤本:指某书仅有一份在世间流传的版本,也指仅存的一份未刊手稿或原物已亡,仅存的一份拓本。如北京图书馆收藏的宋本《楚辞集注》只有一部传世,成为孤本。如在国外尚有传本而国内仅存一本的,则成为“海外孤本”。善本:古代书籍在学术或艺术价值上比一般本子优异的刻本或写本。珍本:凡不常见和难得的文献,以及具有历史、艺术和科学价值的图书版本,都成为珍本。如明初写本《永乐大典》。又如革命战争年代出版的红色书刊现存很少,被公认为珍本。
