Objective To investigate the effects of anti-Helicobacter pylori (Hp) treatment on the levels of Th1 / Th2 cytokines and platelet in peripheral blood of patients with refractory thrombocytopenic purpura (RITP). Methods Forty-two patients with RITP were given anti-Hp treatment. The levels of Th1 / Th2 cytokines and platelets in peripheral blood were measured before and after treatment. Forty healthy volunteers were selected as control group. Results The ratio of Th1 cytokines and IL-2 / IL-4 in peripheral blood before anti-Hp treatment was significantly higher than that in normal control group and Th2 cytokines were significantly lower than those in normal control group. Th1 cytokines and IL-2 / IL-4 ratio (P <0.05). Th2 cytokines increased compared with that before treatment, but still lower than that of the control group, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). Conclusion Anti-Hp therapy has a certain effect on patients with RITP, which may play a role by down-regulating IL-2 / IL-4 ratio.
