Objective To study the effect of different emotional tonic on short-term memory of medical students, and to provide experimental evidence for further study on the effect of emotion on memory and learning. Methods Ninety undergraduates of Shanxi Medical University were randomly selected as subjects and divided into three groups. Emotional films were used to induce different emotional states, short-term memory tests were conducted during the maintenance of emotional state, and statistical tests Correct rate to reflect the role of emotion. Results There were significant differences in test accuracy between the three different emotional states (P <0.01), of which the positive emotion group had the highest correct rate. Conclusion Positive emotions have a positive effect on short-term memory. Based on the conclusion, some suggestions can be made for medical students’ learning.
