According to the Wilderness Law passed by the Parliament in 1964, the National Wilderness Conservation System (NWPS) currently manages about 95 million acres of pristine wilderness area, including 39.1 million acres of national parks, 34 million acres of state-owned forests, and 20.7 million acres of wildlife conservation areas. . The protected wilderness may increase to 200 million mu in the future. The wilderness has ecological, recreational, scientific research, and educational value and is an important “strategic base” on the planet for protecting gene banks, biodiversity, and quality water resources. The purpose of management is to monitor, preserve and reconstruct the wilderness system so as to protect its wilderness characteristics and natural processes from intrusion. Currently, it is necessary to harmonize decentralized management agencies and strengthen monitoring, scientific research and public education for the public.
