河北滦县安各庄铁矿是前震旦系沉积变质铁矿,该铁矿为航磁所发现,后相继进行了1/万,1/5千的地面磁测和钻探普查评价。本区除局部地段有震旦系,前震旦系地层出露外,大面积被第四系所复盖。前震旦系地层的岩性为黑云斜长片麻岩,角闪斜长片麻岩,混合花岗和各类混合岩,前两种岩性分布范围小而零散,后者分布广泛,并与矿体直接接触。矿区出露的震旦系地层有石英砂岩、长石砂岩、石英长石砂岩和白云岩或白云质灰岩。第四系为黄色沙土,灰色沙粘土和卵石,厚度十几米到180米。区内断裂构造发育,前震旦系地层产状零乱。
