Researches on David Copperfield at home and abroad mainly focus on main characters and impacts of the author's humanitarian thoughts on the characterization of the novel, whose general conclusion is about a strong, kind and optimistic image. Nevertheless, there is rare study concerning David Copperfield's dual personality. It is a brand-new angle to analyze the dual personality of David Copperfield, particularly when the personality trait theory is applied to expound the causes of the dual personality. The personality traits interpretation of Dickens's works not only supplements and broadens the horizon of the theory, but also provides a new way for researches on dual personality.
