Objective To explore the related factors of extrauterine growth retardation in preterm infants with a view to formulating a more reasonable nutrition support strategy for premature infants. Methods We monitored the weight of premature infants hospitalized in our hospital from January 2007 to December 2008 and compared them with the weight percentiles of neonates of different gestational ages in 15 cities in China. Outside the developmental delay related factors. Results The birth weight had an impact on the early nutritional status of premature infants, the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). Conclusion Premature infants born at low birth weight often have more complications due to their higher caloric and protein deficiencies, resulting in ectopic growth retardation. Therefore, taking proper early nutritional support for this group of preterm infants is of great significance for improving the quality of life.
