Since its formal introduction, sequence stratigraphy has had a significant impact on global geosciences and related fields and has become a powerful and predictive phase analysis tool in the field of oil and gas exploration and scientific research. Therefore, the coal seam has very important significance in the sequence stratigraphic division. This article will briefly analyze the formation and distribution of coal seams in the sequence stratigraphic framework and analyze various sequence stratigraphic patterns and new coal-forming theories. Finally, it summarizes the significance of coal seams in the sequence stratigraphic division and its research progress.
