1945年8月6日,美国向日本广岛投下第一枚原子弹,代号“小男孩”;8月9日,美军向日本长崎市投下第二枚原子弹,代号“胖子”。原子弹爆炸产生的蘑菇云在日本广岛、长崎拔地而起,两座城市顷刻间被夷为平地。消息立刻传遍全世界,日本裕仁天皇受到极度惊吓,没过几天就宣布日本无条件投降。
On August 6, 1945, the United States dropped the first atomic bomb on Hiroshima in Japan, codenamed “Little Boy.” On August 9, the U.S. military dropped a second atomic bomb to Nagasaki City, Japan, under the code of “fat.” Mushroom clouds produced by the atomic bomb exploded in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan, and the two cities were instantly razed. The news spread all over the world immediately. Japan’s Emperor Hirohito was greatly frightened. Within a few days, he announced Japan’s unconditional surrender.
