不知是那位名人了,曾给冰心、朱自清、巴金作过语言上的对比评价。说冰心的语言细腻芬芳,象桃花落小溪;朱自清的语言清新俊美,象早春杏花带点雨,寒冬梅花着点霜;巴金的语言流畅通脱,象山泉(?)流淌于青松怪石之间。这种评价是否恰当,我不敢妄议,然而我不能不佩服这比喻的巧妙,不能不佩服作家在语言上的追求。更令人欣慰的是,这三位在语言上一向被人称道的作家有两位是教师出身,这就很自然地使我想到做教师也应该在语言上有所追求. 高尔基曾说过,语言是文学的第一要素。我不敢说语言是教学的第几要素,但我能说教师离开了
I don’t know who the celebrity was. I used to give Bing Xin, Zhu Ziqing, and Ba Jin a comparative assessment of language. The language of Bingxin’s language is delicate and fragrant, like peach falls; Xizi’s language is fresh and beautiful, like early spring apricot flowers with a bit of rain, cold winter plum blossoms with spots of frost; Bajin’s language is fluently detached, like a mountain spring (?) flowing in green pine rocks between. Whether this evaluation is appropriate or not, I dare not discuss it. However, I cannot but admire the ingenuity of this metaphor and cannot but admire the writer’s pursuit of language. What is even more gratifying is that these three writers who have always been regarded as linguistically literary are two teachers. This naturally leads me to think of being a teacher and pursuing a language. Gorky once said that Language is the first element of literature. I dare not say that language is the first element of teaching, but I can say that teachers have left
