收藏钱币的泉友都知道有一类称之为“厌胜钱”或“压胜钱”的钱币。这类称为“钱”而又不是流通货币的“钱”,实际上是一种民间的玩赏物品,国内外都有,在日本、韩国等地称为“玩钱”。它在一定程度上反映了当时娱乐、风俗、信仰、文艺等方面的内容。 历代“厌胜钱”上的花纹、图案多系铸成,偶见有流通货币上雕刻花纹、图案的刻花钱,目前见到最早的有在汉五铢钱上刻有“宜君”、“平仲”字样的吉语钱,还见有在唐开元上刻有“牡丹”及卷草花纹的刻花钱。明清刻花钱所选用的流通钱的钱文本身多带有吉语性质,如万历、康熙有健康长寿之意,嘉庆、咸丰有喜庆丰裕之意等。
