This article examines the expression of the starting point of the move in Japanese and Chinese from the perspective of comparative study. Japanese place lattice word “ka ra” and “o” can both introduce the starting point of the move, but the former emphasizes the place where the move is left and the latter focuses on the continuity of the move. Therefore, “o” can be further used to express the abstract move. The Chinese prepositions “slave” and the place object structure can also express the starting point of the movement, but the nouns in the two structures are different in nature and the sentence semantics are also different. The paper also further explores the correspondence between Chinese and Japanese in expressing the starting point of the movement and analyzes the corresponding exceptions.
