Not long ago, writing was the least valued in language skills. But now there have been many changes in the attitude of teaching second language writing. This article covers the details of those changes and the new priorities that have arisen. Traditional Writing Tasks: Traditionally, when students write in second language, the purpose of a writing activity is to pay attention to grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors. In this atmosphere, sometimes the only thing a student needs to do is to practice grammar. Sometimes those grammar exercises appear in the composition, called instructional writing: giving students an essay and instructing them to turn all positive pronouns into yin
