The Belgrade, the Serbian capital, was once the largest city in the former Yugoslavia. Recently, the Supermarket Concept Store was opened with a concept of “Communist Supermarket”. The site was the first discount store in the former socialist country Yugoslavia. The reMiks’ team responsible for the creation of this trendy concept store used the “Golden Age of Socialism” and Fauvism style as sources of inspiration and design concepts. The internal decoration was rough and simple, and it looked like the project had stopped suddenly. The unfinished products allow a variety of exquisite luxury and entertainment activities to be demonstrated in the space of asceticism, and in a strong contrast, a unique sense of harmony is embodied. The wires were exposed and the walls were mottled. Even the toilet doors were dismantled from the abandoned old freight elevators. The 1,400-square-meter wide store was full of Cold War products such as VW buses and refrigerators, and sold environmentally-friendly household items. . In addition, the concept store also has a bar counter, a coffee shop, a beauty area, and an exhibition hall. It regularly holds contemporary art exhibitions and becomes a party salon for local fashionistas.
