我厂一九七三年初,对柴油机上的齿轮进行光亮渗碳探索并进行了少量试生产,一九七四年正式在生产上采用。经过五年多的生产实践考核,证明18Cr2Ni4WA钢制齿轮光亮渗碳与一般气体渗碳相比,具有渗碳温度低、不需再经高温回火和重新加热淬火及喷砂清理、不脱碳、不氧化、变形小等优点。合格率由历年的54.7%提高到66.1%,仅这一项每年就可为国家节约36万余元,基本上解决了我厂多年来的生产关键。
