1985年我白纸黑字写得清楚:二百年来,中国最有希望的日子,还是今天。两年多前邓小平先生谢世,我破例地穿上黑西装,结好黑领带,也要太太穿上全黑的,一起到新华社鞠躬。一位朋友嘲笑我这样做。我说:“你没有读过中国的历史吧!”
In 1985, I wrote clearly in black and white: for the past 200 years, the most promising day in China is still today. Mr. Deng Xiaoping thanked God more than two years ago. I went out to the Xinhua News Agency for bowing with an exception to wearing black suit and knotted black tie. A friend ridiculed me to do so. I said: “You have not read the history of China!”
