This year marks the 120th anniversary of the Sino-Japanese War. Reviewing this passage of history will enable us to learn lessons better, grasp the reality and move toward the future. I. Overview of the Sino-Japanese War The Sino-Japanese War broke out on July 25, 1894, and was signed by the Treaty of Shimonoseki on April 17, 1895, which lasted nearly 9 months. It was a war of aggression against China launched by the Japanese in search of control over the Korean Peninsula and the seizure of Taiwan and the Penghu Islands. During the anti-aggression war in China, the Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895 was the most failed one with the most profound consequences and the most serious consequences.
