四照花(Cronus japonica var.chinensis).又名山荔枝、山茱萸等,山茱萸科四照花属落叶灌木至小乔木。株高3—10米,小枝细,绿色,后变褐色,光滑。叶纸质,对生,卵形或卵状椭圆形,表面浓绿色。头状花序圆球状,生于小枝顶端,具20—30朵小花。5—6月开花,因花序外有2对黄白色花瓣状大型苞片。光彩四照而得名。核果球形,9—10月成熟后变为紫红色,俗称“鸡素果”。本属植物有花叶四照花、红苞四照花、喜马拉雅四照花、及黄果四照花等品种。栽培管理应注意如下5点:
