Rigid, and not easily deformed mold, can greatly reduce the ductile iron castings. In order to investigate the method of calculating the force interaction between the mold and the casting, special pressure gauge (Figure 1) is used to measure the pressure on the mold wall caused by the expansion of the ductile iron before it shrinks. Due to the low coefficient of thermal expansion of the molding material used and the addition of water and air cooling, the thermal expansion of the cavity is ruled out.
