In the past 10 years, it has been recognized that nitric oxide plays an important role in normal physiological and pathophysiological processes. Nitric oxide is synthesized by intracellular nitric oxide synthase and is an important substance that regulates vasomotor activity under normal physiological conditions. Asymmetric dimethyl arginine is a competitive inhibitor of endogenous nitric oxide synthase. In recent years, patients with hypertension found that plasma dimethylolinic acid levels, and plasma concentrations of dimethyl arginine and endothelial dysfunction and the severity of atherosclerosis. Therefore, dimethyl arginine is a new type of vascular disease risk factors.
