离子轰击化学热处理是真空化学热处理的一个重要分支,是近年来发展比较迅速的一种新技术。所谓离子轰击化学热处理,就是利用真空中辉光放电产生的离子,轰击金属表面,从而达到改变其表面层的化学成份、组织及性能的一种化学热处理工艺。离子轰击化学热处理同一般化学热处理一样,表面层化学成份、组织及性能的改变是通过向其表面渗入一定的元素并向深处扩散而实现的。根据所渗入元素的不同,离子轰击化学热处理分为:
