中国金属学会于5月8日～12日在北京召开了第一次全国工作会议。出席这次会议的有二十四个省、市、自治区科协学会、冶金局(厅)、冶金研究所,学校等方面的负责同志及学会工作的专职干部100余人。会议是在全国科协及冶金工业部直接领导下召开的。这次会议的目的是:明确金属学会的任务与作用;交流学会工作经验;讨论1959年工作规划;动员金属学会的力量,调动广大冶金
China Metals Society held its first national working conference in Beijing from May 8 to May 12. Attendance at this meeting includes more than 100 full-time cadres who are responsible comrades and scholars who work in 24 provincial, municipal and autonomous regions Association of Science and Technology, Metallurgical Bureau (Office), Metallurgical Research Institute, and schools. The meeting was held under the direct leadership of the National Association for Science and Technology and the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry.
