现代画院,则是在建国之后,由周恩来总理主持,首先成立了北京中国画院和上海中国画院。其“具体任务是繁荣国画创作,培养国画专门人才;并对国画作理论的探讨及负责院外国画创作的推动和辅导工作。”随着语境变幻,各地的中国画院在现代社会中也不断的发展,逐渐形成综合画种的画院机构,其目的就是在当代文化中探索具有民族性、本土性的艺术主题与艺术语言。重庆画院自然不例外。
