目前的问题几年前,笔者就职于一家软件开发公司时,使用Visul Basic编写MIS应用程序,通过ODBC驱动程序与NT服务器上的Oracle数据库进行数据处理。工作站采用486微机,服务器是SUN的SUPER SPARC,并通过以太网连接在一起。当时这种构造MIS系统的方式是非常先进的。但同时它也有一些不可避免的缺点。因为应用程序位于客户机上,所以要将程序升级就必须一台一台地去重新安装应用程序。再者图形界面和多媒体技术的使用增加了客户机的工作负担。低档的微机难于满足需要,而使用高档的微机势必增加系统的成本。另外,对于大型和复杂的系统,这种方式在开发、管理和维护时都将给系统开发者和用户带来麻烦。
The current problem Several years ago, when I was working at a software development company, I wrote MIS applications using Visul Basic, and processed data through the ODBC driver and the Oracle database on the NT server. The workstations use 486 microcomputers, the servers are SUN’s SUPER SPARC, and are connected via Ethernet. At the time, this method of constructing the MIS system was very advanced. But at the same time it also has some unavoidable shortcomings. Because the application is on the client, to upgrade the program, you must reinstall the application one at a time. Furthermore, the use of graphical interfaces and multimedia technology increases the workload of the client. Low-end microcomputers are difficult to meet the needs, and the use of high-end microcomputers will inevitably increase the cost of the system. In addition, for large and complex systems, this approach will bother system developers and users during development, management, and maintenance.
