1989年10月21日长沙工程兵学院地爆教研室,应用控制爆破技术成功地为长沙铁路分局建筑段,拆除了一栋高层危房.该楼采用空心水泥砌块,厚18厘米,只在个别墙角上通过砌块的空心带上一根φ14cm的钢筋,并灌注水泥.全楼五层,共设五道圈梁,总建筑面积约3000平方米,楼高15米,属居民住宅.周围环境比较复杂,与该楼并排的有两栋五层楼,两边均为13米,楼的一端4米处
