西方新社会运动理论认为,当代工会运动已失去社会进步性,让位于新社会运动。本文以20世纪60年代以来北美工会发展及其与新社会运动的关系说明,将两者截然分成“新”“旧”运动是值得商榷的。工会运动不如新社会运动那样引人注目,是因其已被制度化。一些新社会运动也在制度化过程中,激进程度有所减弱。当代工会不仅与各类新社会运动有着密切关系,而且直接领导和参与很多社会运动,它们仍是推进社会发展与变革的最有力的社会组织。
The theory of the new social movement in the West believes that the contemporary trade union movement has lost its social progress and has given way to the new social movement. The development of the trade unions in North America and their relationship with the new social movement since the 1960s shows that the separation of the two into the “new” and the “old” movements is debatable. The union movement is not as compelling as the new social movement because it has been institutionalized. The radicalization of some new social movements is also being institutionalized. Contemporary trade unions are not only closely related to all kinds of new social movements but also directly lead and participate in many social movements. They are still the most powerful social organizations that promote social development and change.
