在改革开放,市场经济起步和发展的今天,CI理论逐渐登上经济领域的前台,一些企业家们也开始侃侃而谈“建立企业文化”、“树立企业形象”的话题,由一知半解到努力追求,中国的少数企业家就象找到拯救企业的“法宝”,CI热在一定范围内产生了。其实,早在七十年代末,美国兰多(Landor Associ-ates)设计公司总裁兰多先生到过中国,并曾向中国的设计界谈到过有关CI的问题。之后,中国的包装设计专家袁维青先生还在有关刊物撰稿介绍CI的知识。
