新加坡有一条文庆路,地铁东北线上有一个文庆站,这其中原由,现在的年轻人已不甚了解。林文庆于1957年1月1日逝世,今年正值他逝世50周年。新加坡为了纪念这位先驱人物,由民间发起、官方参与、林文庆基金会和新加坡国家图书馆以及新加坡传统文化协会等单位联合举办系列纪念活动:林文庆生平展览、林文庆与土生华人学术讨论会、双语讲座、瞻仰林文庆活动遗址的林文庆之旅等等。林文庆生于1869年,死于1957年,其时新加坡正处于英国殖民地时期。他在维多利亚女王时代受英文教育,还得了奖学金,成为医生和议员,并入了英国国籍,却被中国传统的儒家思想吸引,是一位讲英语的儒家学者。
Singapore has a Wen Qing Road, there is a Wen-Qing Station on the northeast line of the subway, which one of the reasons, young people now do not quite understand. Lin Wenqing died on January 1, 1957, marking the fiftieth anniversary of his death this year. He was educated in English in the Victorian era, received scholarships, became a doctor and parliamentarian, incorporated British nationality, but was attracted to the Chinese traditional Confucianism, is an English-speaking Confucian scholar.
