重力构造指的是在重力影响下的岩石变形过程及其结果(马杏垣等,1981)。从物理学的原理来看,由于重力势(gravity potential)的降低所产生的构造变形总特征,统称为重力构造。重力作为一种体力是无所不在的,因之,重力构造的分布也是极为广泛的。在不同尺度和不同层次上都有表现。其中,地壳上部层次的重力滑动构造——岩体或岩体构造在重力作用影响下的向下坡滑动所形成的构造变动,分布最为广泛,是最常见又最易被人们理解和接受的重力构造类型。本文讨论的主要对象,就是这种构造型式。当然,由于客观事物之间存在着必然的联系,所以也多少会涉及一些较深层次的重力构造问题。
