本世纪八十年代对NMDA受体的研究较为深入,主要包括这样几个过程:(1)将这类受体定义为特定的兴奋性氨基酸(谷氨酸)受体;(2)阐明其生理学及生物物理学特性;(3)揭示其在突触整合及成形中的作用;(4)在多种神经紊乱症中有作用。九十年代初,日本学者Nakanishi等又将NMDA受体基因克隆化,这无疑是一个新的里程碑,因为籍此可以获取大量有关受体结构的信息并开创神经治疗中靶向定位的新纪元。
